General Saïd Chanegriha hosted Niger's Defence Minister Salifou Modi at the Algerian Army headquarters on 21 October 2026, where both sides signed a military cooperation protocol.
Chanegriha welcomed Modi and stressed Algeria's readiness to deepen bilateral military ties, stating, "I reaffirm Algeria's full willingness to examine any Nigerien proposal to strengthen our military and security cooperation".
The protocol, signed on the same day, formalises cooperation on defence training, joint exercises and information sharing between the two countries.
A day earlier, Algeria and Bangladesh concluded a memorandum of cooperation on hydrocarbons in Algiers, signed by Hydrocarbons Minister Mohamed Arkab and Bangladesh Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood.
The MoU covers all stages of the hydrocarbon value chain – exploration, production, transport, processing, storage, marketing and investment – signalling a broad framework for future collaboration.
