Algeria observed National Press Day on Thursday, 22 October 2026, highlighting the need for media ethics and truth‑seeking across the country.

The day, dedicated to commemorating journalistic standards, called on Algerian reporters to raise verification practices and moral standards in their work.

Officials warned that social media continues to spread unverified and biased information, undermining public confidence in news outlets.

They also identified drones and misinformation as emerging threats to public safety, urging the press to play a proactive role in countering these risks.
