A tripartite mechanism of Libya's neighbouring countries met in Algiers on Sunday, 25 October 2026, to discuss an inclusive political solution for Libya.
The gathering brought together Ahmed Attaf of Algeria, Mohamed Ali Nafti of Tunisia and Badr Abdel Aati of Egypt. Their purpose was to strengthen coordination and seek a free, transparent parliamentary and presidential election in Libya.
Participants reviewed recent political and security developments and examined ways to advance the UN‑led political settlement. They stressed the need to end Libyan division while preserving the country's unity and sovereignty.
The meeting aimed to produce unified, strong institutions that would underpin Libyan security and stability. Attaf, Nafti and Abdel Aati agreed to continue cooperation to achieve these goals.
