The second meeting of the Algeria‑Tunisia bilateral commission convened on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, in El‑Oued province (wilaya).

The gathering assessed the implementation of recommendations issued after the first session held in Tabarka, Tunisia, from 7‑9 January 2025, and examined ways to remove constraints hindering joint projects.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Kaïs Saïed reiterated their commitment to prioritise border development, a key pillar of the friendship framework between the two neighbours.

Wali of El‑Oued Larbi Bahloul opened the session, describing the cooperation as a strategic priority, while Tunisian Interior Ministry legal director Brahim Dehmani highlighted the partnership’s role within the broader friendship agenda.

Tunisian cooperation director Kamel Kaïli urged the creation of joint sectoral technical commissions to deepen collaboration, and participants included the walis of El‑Oued, Ouargla, Tébessa, Bir El‑Ater, Souk‑Ahras and El‑Tarf, alongside Tunisian governors from Tozeur, Gafsa, Le Kef, Kasserine, Jendouba, Kébili, and Tataouine.
