Algeria women's football team rises to 73rd in FIFA world ranking

Algeria's women's national football team moved up one place in the latest FIFA World Rankings, reaching 73rd globally, the update released on Tuesday confirmed. The climb follows a historic season for the side, which secured a bronze medal at the 2026 African Nations Cup and qualified for the 2027 World Cup finals for the first time.

Regionally, the team cemented its place among Africa's elite, ranking eighth on the continent, while also holding the second spot among Arab nations. The squad is coached by Farid Benstiti, who oversaw the recent achievements.

At the top of the FIFA table, reigning world champions Spain remain first, followed by the United States in second and Germany in third. The next FIFA ranking release is scheduled for 7 December.
