The Algerian National Police (ANP) said its operations from 14 to 20 October seized 2 million psychotropic tablets and apprehended 51 narcotraffickers. The crackdown also led to 137 arrests and the seizure of 22 vehicles across the southern provinces of Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Guezzam.
In addition to the tablets, police intercepted 2 quintals and 96 kg of kif smuggled from Morocco and confiscated 1 kg of cocaine. The raids also uncovered 196 generators, 90 jackhammers, and various gold ore and stone mixtures, all seized as part of the broader operation.
Further security actions resulted in the capture of nine individuals carrying three sub‑machine guns, two hunting rifles and 51,150 litres of contraband fuel. The ANP highlighted the scale of the seizure, noting the diversity of illegal goods recovered.
Coast guard units thwarted 231 clandestine migrants attempting to enter Algeria, while police nationwide arrested 412 immigrants in related checks. The ANP praised the results, saying the week’s operations "yielded high‑quality results reflecting professionalism and vigilance across national territory".
