Direct Train Service Between Annaba and Tunis Resumes

Algeria's national railway operator, SNTF, announced that the international rail line linking Annaba and Tunis will restart operations on Wednesday 21 October 2026. The first service will depart from Tunis central station heading straight for Annaba, restoring a direct connection between the two cities.

The resumption follows the completion of works on the Ain Senour‑Souk Ahras section, carried out by the National Agency for Railway Studies and Investment Monitoring (ANESRIF). The upgrade, which lasted 20 days, was aimed at improving the cross‑border route.

Both statements from SNTF confirm that the renewed service marks the return of uninterrupted train journeys between Algeria and Tunisia after the temporary suspension for the infrastructure works.

Travelers can now once again benefit from a seamless rail link between the two capitals, enhancing regional mobility and trade ties.
