A drone strike on Nyala market in South Darfur on Monday killed 21 people and injured 40, medical staff at Nyala hospital told AFP.
The victims were taken to the hospital where staff confirmed the toll, saying, "21 people were killed by the strike last night and more than forty were wounded". The attack adds to the violence that has plagued Sudan since the army and the Rapid Support Forces began fighting in April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead and 13 million
Earlier that morning drones struck five power stations, cutting electricity in four eastern and central states. A source at the Sudan Electricity Company said, "The attacks caused severe damage to the stations, cutting power to four eastern and central states".
The National Electricity Company reported severe damage and outages across the affected states, compounding the humanitarian crisis already worsened by months of armed conflict.
