Eleven vegetation, crop and palm grove fires were recorded across Algeria in the past 24 hours, with a palm‑tree fire still burning in Biskra wilaya.

Ten of the blazes have been extinguished by emergency crews, leaving one active incident that threatens the palm groves of Biskra.

The fires were reported up to 20:00 on Friday, 23 October 2026, and have prompted local authorities to deploy firefighting units throughout the affected wilayas.

Officials say the remaining fire will be tackled with additional resources and that the situation is being closely monitored.
