FAF Launches Nationwide Youth Development and Women’s Football Support

On Wednesday 28 October, Walid Saadi, president of the Algerian Football Federation, chaired an expanded ordinary meeting with national leagues at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa. The meeting saw the launch of a national youth talent development programme set to begin in January 2027, aimed at discovering and assessing promising players across the country.

The new system will create four regional under‑15 teams for the East, Centre, West and South‑Large regions, with regular training camps and seasonal evaluations. A national under‑15 talent tournament will run alongside the senior U15 national team competitions, providing a clear pathway for young players.

In addition, the FAF approved a national futsal tournament for under‑20 players to broaden indoor football participation. The federation also announced new financial support for women’s football, covering youth female categories, competition organization and refereeing costs.

Eight professional clubs remain prohibited from registering new players due to court rulings, a restriction that will stay in place until further notice.
