French Justice Minister Orders Pre‑Trial Detention Amid Widespread Youth Protests

France is witnessing large‑scale demonstrations involving hundreds of thousands of citizens, led primarily by high‑school students, as the government adopts a "legitimate use of force" and pre‑trial detention policy, Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin announced. He instructed prosecutors across the country to apply provisional detention for those arrested during the unrest, following images of clashes and statements from authorities.
