Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 21 October, focusing on industry policy, public works and the first year of the 2025‑2029 national drug prevention strategy.

The session examined a new mechanism for calculating integration rates in the heavy and light vehicle and mobile‑phone sectors, aiming to move Algeria beyond simple assembly toward a genuine national industry with stronger partnerships, technology transfer, skill development and a broader subcontractor network.

Officials also evaluated the inaugural year of the drug prevention plan, noting the need to adapt to evolving organised crime, to conduct monthly government‑level assessments and to boost field action at the neighbourhood level with civil‑society involvement and reinforced international cooperation.

Progress on the railway linking El Meniaa to Tamanrasset was reviewed, and construction is set to commence in Tamanrasset province (wilaya) following presidential instructions.
