Hemdani Targets Massolin Amid Call‑up Uncertainties
· Source: Algeria Now
Algeria’s head coach Brahim Hemdani has earmarked Yanis Massolin for a midfield sentinel role ahead of the upcoming international window, despite the midfielder’s inability to be called up for the double match against Togo on 14 and 17 November 2026. Massolin is still pending sports passport paperwork and has never represented France at any level.
The coach has ruled out Aït‑Nouri for the November camp after the player refused to apologise, leaving Aït‑Nouri’s chances of a call‑up almost zero. Consequently, Aït‑Nouri is moving away from a potential comeback with Algeria. Hemdani has also rejected a request for a second assistant coach; the proposed assistants, Belhadj and Matmour, will not be considered until the FAF postpones new staff appointments to March 2027, when it will study candidates’ dossiers before making a decision.
Meanwhile, the Hemdan‑Yahia duo have already handled logistics for the next camp, ensuring that preparations continue smoothly despite the coaching staff shuffle. The national federation remains focused on assembling a cohesive squad for the upcoming fixtures, even as administrative and eligibility issues create uncertainty for some players.
