Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza has finished ninth in the 2026 Trophée Kopa, an award recognizing the best young player of the season. The Algerian international secured this notable position following a prolific 2025‑2026 campaign, where he featured in 44 matches, scoring five goals and providing six assists for his club.

Maza’s performance extended to the European stage, where he appeared in 12 Champions League matches and recorded two assists. On the international front, he was a key figure for Algeria, scoring two goals and adding one assist in five appearances during the 2025‑2026 Africa Cup of Nations. Furthermore, he played all four matches for the national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2026 Trophée Kopa was claimed by Lamine Yamal, who was crowned the winner for the third consecutive year. Pau Cubarsí and Warren Zaïre‑Emery completed the podium in second and third places, respectively.

Maza, who has also been nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, addressed the honour with humility. "I must be realistic about my chances, but being named for this award is already something wonderful," he said. The midfielder remains grateful for the recognition as he continues his rise in world football.
