Ilyes Hamache, the 23-year-old Franco‑Algerian winger of Cambuur, was selected for L'Equipe's French Team of the Week on Monday, joining the likes of Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise. The honour follows his standout performance in the Eredivisie match against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, where he scored the opening goal in the 39th minute with a right‑footed strike from the edge of the box, securing a 1‑0 lead for Cambuur.
The goal marked Hamache's fourth league tally of the season and continued a prolific run at home, where he has now found the net in three consecutive Cambuur matches. This achievement makes him only the third player in the club's history to score in three successive Eredivisie home games, after Michael Mols and Sander van de Streek.
Hamache's recent form has revived interest from the Algerian national team. He previously stated, during Djamel Belmadi's tenure, that his ambition was to earn a place in Algeria's senior squad, and his current performances are likely to bring his name back into consideration.
