Institut national de recherche en éducation creates two new research units

The Institut national de recherche en éducation approved the creation of two research units on AI applications in education and inclusive special education during an extraordinary board session on 21 October 2026.

The session, chaired by Boualem Ben Laouar – the minister of national education’s representative and board president – was attended by institute director Dr Djeddi Chaouki and scientific council president Abdelhamid Abi Ismaïl, who both were present for the vote.

Both proposals were adopted unanimously, signalling strong institutional support for advancing technology‑driven teaching methods and integrated studies on inclusive special education.

In addition to the research units, the board approved a modification of financial credits for the social works committee’s contribution for 2026, adjusting the budget to reflect the new priorities.

The decisions were taken on 21 October and were published on 22 October 2026, confirming the institute’s commitment to modernising Algeria’s educational research landscape.
