Justice Minister installs commission to propose Penal Code amendments

Minister of Justice Lotfi Boudjemaa installed a commission on Wednesday tasked with proposing amendments to Algeria's Penal Code, according to a ministry statement.

The commission is composed of advisers from the Supreme Court and Council of State, court magistrates, lawyers and central administration officials. It may also consult any relevant experts or specialists deemed necessary during its work.

The body has been granted all prerogatives and resources needed to carry out its mission and will begin work immediately, with instructions to submit its findings within four months.
