Marseille defeat Lille 4-3 in Ligue 1 thriller

Olympique de Marseille defeated Lille 4-3 on Sunday, 25 October 2026, in a dramatic Ligue 1 round 8 encounter at the Velodrome. The match ended with a late surge from the visitors, but Marseille held on to secure a crucial victory in their title race.

Amine Gouiri opened the scoring for the hosts in the 50th minute, marking his third Ligue 1 goal of the season. Imad Abdelli followed shortly after in the 55th minute, extending the lead with his fourth French league goal. Both players were subsequently substituted, with Gouiri leaving at minute 78 and Abdelli at minute 84.

Coach Bruno Genesio’s tactical adjustments sparked a late comeback for Lille, who scored twice in the final minutes of the game. Goals in the 86th and 89th minutes brought the visitors within striking distance, but Marseille managed to protect their advantage until the final whistle.
