Minister Announces Feasibility Studies for Three New University Hospitals

Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, Minister of Habitat, Urbanism and City, said today that preparatory studies have been launched for university hospitals in Sétif, Annaba and Béjaïa.

The projects form part of the 2027 public equipment programme and will be financed from the Habitat department's equipment budget, with health listed among the year's expenditure priorities.

Belaribi presented the plan to the finance and budget commission of the National People's Assembly, noting that the chosen sites host large populations and existing medical faculties, which should strengthen the national health network and improve quality of care.

The minister highlighted that the new hospitals aim to reduce patient transfers to Algiers, echoing similar oncology projects announced for Algiers, Tlemcen and Annaba.

No specific budget, timeline or capacity details have been disclosed; the studies are preparatory and construction has not yet begun, with further decisions to follow the completion of the studies.
