Algerian Minister Farid Kourtel met a delegation from Tirsam on 24 October to discuss the company's plans to expand vehicle manufacturing into passenger cars.

Tirsam, a domestic vehicle producer, is seeking to broaden its range beyond commercial vehicles and is currently negotiating with global automakers to secure a partnership.

During the talks, the minister urged the company to increase local integration and domestic subcontracting, stressing the importance of building a stronger Algerian supply chain.

The outcome of the project will depend on the progress of negotiations, the chosen investment model, and the technical requirements that will be set.

No details have been released yet regarding potential partners, production capacity, costs or the timeline for the proposed passenger‑car venture.
