Mourad Adjal inaugurated a 300 MW solar PV plant in El‑Oued wilaya on Monday, marking Algeria's first facility of this size and Africa's second by capacity.

The new plant is the third photovoltaic installation commissioned in 2026, following 200 MW projects in Tendla (El‑Meghaier) and El‑Ghrous (Biskra).

It forms part of the national programme that aims to reach 15 000 MW of solar PV capacity by 2035, accelerating the country's renewable‑energy transition.

The inauguration underscores the government's push for large‑scale solar projects and signals continued investment in the sector as the 2026‑27 sowing campaign approaches.
