Oil Prices Surge Over 2% Amid Renewed Houthi Threats

Oil prices jumped more than 2% on Thursday, 22 October 2026, as market fears of supply disruptions from renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia intensified.

Brent futures for December delivery rose 2.36% to $111.39 a barrel, while WTI futures for the same month climbed 2.14% to $99.23 a barrel, according to the Energy Platform.

The gains followed a flat close for Brent and a 0.68% fall for WTI the previous day, underscoring the market’s sensitivity to Middle East tensions.

Analysts say the volatility is directly linked to escalating geopolitical risk in the region, with traders wary of potential disruptions to the world’s largest oil exporter.

The surge reflects the oil market’s ongoing reaction to the renewed threat, as participants adjust positions ahead of possible supply interruptions.

Market watchers will monitor further developments in the region and any official statements from oil-producing nations for clues on the trajectory of prices.
