President Tebboune Hosts Niger Defense Minister for Military Cooperation Pact

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Niger's Defense Minister Salifou Mody on 21 October 2026, marking the formal signing of a new protocol on military cooperation between the two neighbours.

The agreement, concluded earlier that day, aims to deepen joint defence initiatives and coordinate security operations across the shared border region.

The ceremony was overseen by General Saïd Chanegriha, chief of staff of the Algerian National People's Army, alongside General Salifou Mody, and was attended by senior officials including Lounès Magramane, cabinet director, and Ahmed Attaf, Foreign Affairs Minister.

Both sides expressed optimism that the protocol will strengthen bilateral ties and enhance regional stability, signalling a renewed commitment to collaborative security efforts.
