President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday extended his sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of Mohamed Ali Haroun, who died on 24 October 2026 at the age of 99.
Haroun, a former member of the Supreme Council of State, was a veteran of Algeria’s struggle for independence. He began his activism in the FLN in France, where he took on political, media, diplomatic and financing responsibilities.
His long public service spanned the formative years of the Algerian Republic, and his contributions were recognised across the political spectrum. The president’s statement highlighted the nation’s respect for Haroun’s lifelong dedication.
Haroun’s death was confirmed on the same day the president issued his tribute. No further official ceremonies have been announced, and the family’s private mourning will proceed according to their wishes.
