President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received letters of credence from six foreign ambassadors on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, marking the start of their diplomatic missions in Algeria.
The new envoys include Tebelolo Alfred Boang representing Botswana, Christian Muller for Luxembourg, and Akram Karimi from Tajikistan. Also presenting credentials were Archil Kalandia of Georgia, Evgueni Sobolevski of Belarus and Christian Zammit on behalf of Malta.
The ceremony took place at the presidential palace in Algiers, where each ambassador formally handed over their documents to the head of state, as is customary in diplomatic protocol.
Their accreditation allows the ambassadors to begin official duties, engage with Algerian officials and promote bilateral cooperation across political, economic and cultural fields.
The arrivals reflect Algeria’s ongoing effort to strengthen ties with a diverse group of countries across Africa, Europe and Asia.
All six ambassadors are expected to present their credentials to the foreign ministers of their respective ministries in the coming days as they settle into their posts.
