President Tebboune reshuffles regional governors across eight provinces

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune carried out a major reshuffle of provincial governors on 20 October, moving walis in eight Algerian provinces.

The changes saw Riadh Benahmed transferred from Batna to Aflou, while Yousef Bechlaoui moved from Tlemcen to Batna. Mohamed Meziane was reassigned from El Tarf to Bejaïa and Kamel Nouicer shifted from Bordj Bou Arreridj to Tlemcen.

Abdelwahab Zini was appointed wali of El Tarf, having previously served as delegate in El Harrach, Algiers. Redouane Khelifa took over as wali of Bordj Bou Arreridj after a stint as delegate in Bab El Oued, Algiers.

Omar Boutahraoui, formerly secretary general of Oum El Bouaghi, was named wali of Barika. The reshuffle affects a total of eight provinces, signalling the administration's intent to refresh local leadership.

The newly appointed walis are expected to assume their duties within the coming days, implementing the central government's policies at the regional level.
