Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired a government meeting on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, focusing on boosting national industrial integration, reviewing the 2025‑2029 drug‑control strategy and advancing the El Meniaa‑Tamanrasset railway.
The cabinet outlined a new mechanism to calculate local integration rates for heavy and light vehicle production as well as mobile‑phone manufacturing, aiming to raise the share of domestically produced components, cut the import bill and move beyond mere assembly lines.
The industrial plan hinges on partnerships, technology transfer, skill development and a network of subcontractors, with the government pledging to foster a genuine manufacturing sector.
An interim assessment of the drug‑control strategy, now in its first year, presented results from an action plan built on anticipation, deterrence and care, and confirmed that monthly government evaluations will continue to adapt the plan to the evolving tactics of organised crime.
The meeting also confirmed that the El Meniaa‑Tamanrasset railway will proceed from Tamanrasset wilaya in line with presidential instruction, though no further dates were set for subsequent phases.
