· Source: Algeria Now
Algerian international Rafik Guitane continued his resurgence in Portugal by netting a crucial goal for Estoril in the Portuguese Cup. He entered the match against Salgueiros in the 67th minute and, with the team trailing 1-0 after an 80th‑minute strike from the halfway line, he found the equaliser in the 89th minute, sending the tie into extra time.
Guitane, positioned near the penalty spot, cut in a low cross and beat goalkeeper Martin Turk to make it 1-1. Despite both sides creating chances in the additional thirty minutes, including a missed opportunity by teammate Xavi Sintes in the 114th minute, no further goals were scored.
The contest was decided by a penalty shoot‑out, which Estoril won 3-1. Guitane took a penalty but his shot struck the crossbar, while the goalkeeper made two decisive saves to secure progression to the next round.
The goal marked Guitane's second consecutive match with a strike, following his league goal on 10 October against Académico de Viseu. This season he has made seven league appearances for Estoril, four as a starter, totalling 369 minutes, and now has two goals across all competitions.
