Vice‑president Maxime Orechkine said Russia will expand economic and technological cooperation with Algeria, focusing on gas and LNG Liquefied natural gas projects.

Speaking at a media forum on 26 October, Orechkine outlined plans ahead of the Russia‑Africa summit in Moscow on 28‑29 October, where an Algerian delegation will attend.

Russia proposes joint projects in energy, gas, digital technology, artificial intelligence, renewables, desalination, fintech, agriculture and food security, and offers expertise in offshore gas production, LNG platform construction and data protection for African partners.

The proposals build on the deep strategic partnership signed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Putin in Russia in 2023, and aim to deepen ties in both traditional and emerging sectors.

Separately, the Ministry of Higher Education, in partnership with the European Commission, will host an Erasmus+ university event featuring eight Algerian institutions, focusing on training for EU‑eligible research projects and mobility for students and staff.

The IPTICAR matchmaking project will transfer European engineering and project‑management expertise to Algerian universities, seeking to boost innovation, improve international rankings and align research and development with the 2021‑2027 Erasmus+ programme.

"Russia is ready to expand cooperation with Algeria, especially in gas and technology," Orechkine said, underscoring the expected growth of bilateral projects in the coming months.
