Russian Ambassador Reaffirms Push to Deepen Algeria Ties

Russian ambassador Alexei Solomatine said on Saturday that Russia wants to build strong relations with African countries and develop cooperation with Algeria, reaffirming a desire to deepen the partnership.

He received an Algerian delegation at a Wednesday evening event linked to the World Youth Forum in Russia, where the two sides discussed cultural cooperation.

Russia is working to reopen its Russian Cultural Center in Algeria, which has been closed since the 1990s, and is studying the possibility of opening an Algerian Cultural Center in Moscow.

The Russian‑African Forum is scheduled for 28‑29 October 2026 in Moscow, providing a platform for further dialogue.

In early November 2026, Russia plans to host a group of Russian realist painters in Algeria, accompanied by an exhibition of their works.
