The Spanish civil guard seized more than five tonnes of Moroccan hashish during a night operation on 21 October 2026.

The seizure took place as part of a coordinated effort with the Republican National Guard and Portuguese maritime police.

A semi‑rigid boat equipped with four engines was intercepted at the Guadiana River entrance, according to the civil guard, which said, "We intercepted a semi-rigid boat equipped with four engines at the Guadiana River entrance".

Before fleeing, the suspects threw 127 bundles of hashish into the sea, but security units recovered the shipment, exceeding five tons.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the fugitives involved in the operation.
