Spanish Soldiers Injured in Ceuta Clashes with Moroccan Migrants

In Ceuta, 11 Spanish soldiers sustained injuries after a clash with Moroccan migrants on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. The incident followed a deployment for surveillance after 70,000 migrants entered Tarajal on 30‑31 July.

The confrontation involved pushing, chasing and stone‑throwing at the soldiers. Earlier, in August, a patrol at Benzu suffered four injuries and 12 migrants were arrested. The Spanish army has filed about ten complaints against migrants and civilians for aggression.

In September, 4,100 soldiers were deployed in Ceuta to monitor the situation. Defence Minister Margarita Robles announced that she will visit Ceuta in November to honour the soldiers involved.
