The Student List secured a projected 135‑140 seats in Serbia’s 250‑member parliament, overtaking Aleksandar Vucic’s Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) which is expected to win about 105 seats.
The snap parliamentary vote was held on Sunday, 25 October 2026, with polling closing at 8pm local time (19:00 GMT). The State Election Commission reported a 64.9% turnout by 6pm (17:00 GMT).
Vucic publicly conceded defeat after the results began to emerge. The Student List’s headquarters in Belgrade erupted in cheers, euphoria and tears as supporters celebrated the outcome.
Radomir Saicic, a parliamentary candidate for the Student List, told reporters that students were convincingly leading in almost all polling stations. He added, "Students won, and with them also a hope that Serbia can be a country of justice, freedom and dignity".
The election was triggered by nationwide anti‑corruption protests and marks the first time since 2012 that the SNS, which has governed for fourteen years, is likely to lose its parliamentary majority.
