· Source: Algeria Now
A specialised first‑aid course for tourist guides launched today in several wilayas, organised by the Civil Protection under the Ministry of Tourism. The five‑day programme combines theoretical lessons, practical drills and workshops designed to equip guides with essential emergency response skills for tours and excursions.
The training aims to improve guides' ability to act swiftly and effectively during accidents or injuries that may occur in popular destinations, including mountain treks and desert trips, thereby enhancing overall safety for visitors.
Civil Protection officers and agents will deliver the curriculum, covering basic first‑aid principles, appropriate reactions to incidents, and treatment of common injuries such as falls and wounds. Participants will also learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation, initial care for choking or loss of consciousness, risk management and appropriate conduct in emergencies.
Guides will be taught techniques to calm tourists and guide them safely until specialised rescue teams arrive. Upon completing both the theoretical and practical components, attendees will receive first‑aid certificates issued by the Civil Protection, bolstering their capacity to manage critical situations in their professional duties.
