· Source: Algeria Now
On Tuesday, 27 October 2026, the Tribunal de Sidi M'Hamed handed down its verdict on several former FAF officials. Kheireddine Zetchi, the former FAF president, was sentenced to eight years imprisonment. Djahid Zefizef, also a former FAF president, received a seven‑year sentence. Abdelghani Nekkache, the former FAF administrative director, was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
The prosecutor had sought ten years and a five‑million‑dinar fine for some defendants, and seven years and the same fine for others. The trial concluded a week before the verdict, and the court’s decision now finalises the punishment for the three men.
The sentences reflect the seriousness of the charges brought against the former FAF leadership. The verdict is expected to have a significant impact on the governance of Algerian football, as the country looks to rebuild trust in its sporting institutions.
