Union Africaine Receives Algeria Prize for Women Economic Empowerment at Egumeni Summit

Union Africaine has been awarded the Algeria Prize for women economic empowerment during the Egumeni summit, which ran from 19 to 21 October 2026 in Addis‑Ababa, Ethiopia.

The prize is part of the Pan‑African Initiative WYFEI 2030 Accelerator, whose theme is "Build resilient Africa by accelerating financial and economic inclusion of women."

The summit gathered government officials, representatives of financial institutions, experts and entrepreneurs, all convened under the Egumeni tradition of a meeting exclusively led by women.

The award recognises Union Africaine’s contribution to advancing women’s economic participation across the continent, aligning with the initiative’s goal of fostering inclusive growth.
