Woman's body found buried in Djelfa municipality

A woman's body was discovered buried in the Qaaadi area of Cherf municipality, Djelfa wilaya, on Saturday following reports of a foul smell the previous day.

Residents said they noticed the odour on 22 Oct 2026 and later found body parts scattered in the area. The National Gendarmerie of Algeria was notified and retrieved the remaining remains.

The recovered body was transferred to a hospital in Idrisia municipality for further procedures, and an investigation has been opened into the circumstances of the burial.

Preliminary forensic observations indicate that skin remnants on the body suggest a relatively recent burial, possibly exposed by rain or stray dogs.
